RI Screening of Swallow THIS: A Documentary About Methadone & Covid-19 In-Person

Swallow THIS: A Documentary About Methadone and COVID-19 is a vital and timely documentary that uncovers what happened in opioid treatment programs during the pandemic. In an unprecedented move, the DEA and SAMHSA lifted the onerous restrictions on take-home doses and suddenly everyone was eligible for 14 or 28 days of medication.

Co-directors Marilena Marchetti & Helen Redmond traveled across the country to document the impact of this dramatic change. In interviews with patients and clinic staff from Massachusetts to Tennessee, the new take-homes policy was adopted inconsistently. Some got 14 or 28 bottles and experienced freedom, but most did not.

Swallow THIS is a call to action about methadone clinics.

Following the film, join the co-directors for a panel discussion with Dr. Laura Levine from the Lifespan Recovery Center and Program Director for the Addiction Medicine Fellowship at Brown and a person with lived and living experience.

This event is co-sponsored by Cobre Center, Open Society Foundations and National Harm Reduction Coalition.
