3D Printing Workshop with RI Computer Museum

3D Printing Workshop with RI Computer Museum In-Person

Explore the limitless possibilities of 3D design! Learn how to design 3D objects using BlocksCAD! In this hands-on workshop, you will observe a 3D printer in action and transform a digital file of your own creation into an object that you can hold in your hand! You will explore the fundamentals of computer-aided design (CAD) through an intuitive, drag-and-drop coding interface. No prior coding experience? No problem!

BlocksCAD makes learning easy with colorful, block-style coding commands that allow you to manipulate simple geometric shapes with the click of a mouse. After our seasoned instructor provides you with an overview of the basic mechanics of the BlocksCAD software, they will help you create a personalized project! Your personalized project will be a custom name tag, where you will spell your first name and adjust the font, size, and thickness of the text to make it uniquely yours.

Experience the magic of a 3D printer at work, as your project file is transformed into a physical object right before your eyes!
Each participant will receive a complimentary 3D print of an engraved name tag at the end of the workshop. Any name tags that are not fabricated within the workshop’s allotted time frame will be made available for pick-up at the library at a later date.
